A good rule of thumb is to plan on two feet per average sized adult. Our 4' outdoor garden porch swing, bench or glider will seat two average size adults. Our 5’ seats are the most comfortable as it will give two adults a little bit of wiggle room. The 6' outdoor garden porch swing, bench or glider is a large outdoor garden porch swing that will accommodate three adults. Spending a little time up front measuring your space and considering the item's use can save inconvenience and disappointment later.

Generally speaking, all of our furniture products are very simple to assemble. Assembly time varies per item. All necessary hardware and assembly instructions are included with each shipment.

If you intend to hang your swing from your ceiling, make certain the joists will support the weight of the swing and its occupants. Be sure to leave a minimum of 2'6" behind the swing for a comfortable swinging motion, although 3 feet or more is preferred. Position the swing chains an inch or two outside the swing length. (i.e. when hanging a 5' swing, position the chain hooks about 5'2" to 5'4" apart.) If you are using our comfort springs, they hang at the top between the hanging hooks and the swing chains. If you are uncertain about this, we suggest you consult an experienced carpenter for installation.

If you want to hang your porch swing from a tree limb, make sure that the limb is sturdy enough to support the weight. Then, protect the limb from abrasion by padding the hanging chain with a section of rubber hose and fasten the chain around the limb with a heavy, rust-resistant bolt. Never use hooks to attach the chain directly to a tree limb. If neither of these options is satisfactory, we suggest you consider our free standing A-frame swing.

We employ an outside shipping company to deliver your product by motor freight. Curbside Delivery means that drivers are not required to assist you in unloading the product from the truck or placing the pieces in a desired location. Therefore, we recommend that you have a few people to help you in unloading larger pieces from the vehicle. The shipment will arrive on a wooden pallet and will be wrapped in a heavy-duty vinyl binding to protect your purchase. The easiest way to unload your shipment from the truck is to cut the vinyl binding and remove each piece one at a time.

Because we work with an outside shipping company, we can not exercise any control over the shipping process. So, we advise that you immediately examine your shipment before signing the delivery receipt. Do not dispose of the box or packaging material until you have inspected your order and are satisfied with the product you have received. If you suspect that your shipment may have been damaged, you must notify our Customer Service Department within 3 business days. All of our cedar, pine, and cypress furniture can be shipped with two coats of our penetrating stain/sealer already applied. This service can be added in our shopping cart, and will cost 20% of the total price of your furniture. Having your furniture shipped with a stain/sealer already applied, or immediately applying it yourself, will provide maximum protection from the elements.

However, some prefer their wood furniture to weather to a rustic gray patina. If you are interested in this look, have your furniture shipped unstained. You can apply a stain/sealer yourself once the wood has weathered to the desired gray to preserve that color. A stain/sealer can be purchased at a local hardware store. We strongly recommend using a stain/sealer with a slight cedar tone instead of a clear sealer, as clear sealers have a tendency to wear off when exposed to the sun.
